The Basics of Ketosis:

At the core of the keto diet lies the metabolic state called ketosis. Normally, our bodies primarily rely on carbohydrates for energy. However, when carbohydrate intake is significantly reduced, as in the case of the keto diet, the body shifts its primary fuel source from glucose to fat.

During ketosis, the liver converts fatty acids into ketones, which serve as an alternative energy source for the brain and body. This metabolic adaptation is the cornerstone of the keto diet's effectiveness.

Brown adipose tissue, also known as brown fat, is a specialized type of adipose (fat) tissue that is distinguishable from its more common counterpart, white adipose tissue (WAT). Unlike white fat, which primarily stores energy, brown fat is equipped with a higher concentration of mitochondria – the cellular powerhouses responsible for energy production.
